Wang's questionnaire was modified to assure
validity. We not only modified the wording of
the questionnaire but also deleted 5 items and
added 2 new items for a final version of 32 items.
We use a Likert 6-point scale for measurement. All
items are described in positive narration for the
participants to evaluate its association with the risk
of committing suicide: extremely high risk is given
6 points; very high risk, 5 points; moderate risk, 4
points; little risk, 3 points; least risk, 2 points; and
no risk at all, 1 point. A score of 4 or more
represents that the participant is able to perceive
the SWS. The more signs the participants can
perceive, the higher the score.
