All outcome measurements were obtained by evaluators
who were blinded to group allocation, and
who successfully completed standardized training
in the testing procedures.14 Testing on all outcome
measures began four to six weeks after surgery.
Blinding of the intervention therapists and participants
was not possible owing to the nature of the
intervention.
The SF-36 questionnaire yields an eight-scale
profile of scores, as well as physical and mental
component summary measures.2 The eight-scale
profile of the SF-36 includes physical function,
role physical, bodily pain, general health, vitality,
social function, role emotional, and mental health
components. It has been used in patients with
LBP16,17 and after lumbar surgeries.
