Pats 6 Solubility versus temperature, saturated and unsaturated solutions
1. Label four weighing papers as follow and weigh the stated amounts onto each one.
2. Add 1.0 g of NaOH and NH4Cl to large size test tubes labeled A and B as shown, and add 5 mL of distilled water to each tube and shake until each substance is completely dissolved. Record the observations in the provided table in the report.
3. Add 1.5 g NaOH to test tube A and add 1.5 g NH4Cl to test tube B, shake for about 3 minutes.
4. Place both test tubes in hot water (about 90 °C) and shake occasionally. Note the results after 5 minutes.
5. Remove the tubes and cool in running tap water for about 1 minute. Let stand for a few minutes and record the observations.
6. Dispose of all solutions in the sink. Flush generously with tap water.
