Antimold®80 in PPE bags was as effective as SO2 treatments
in reducing incidence of fungal decay in naturally infected grapes,
artificially inoculated grapes and uninoculated grapes for 1 month.
The decreasing level of ethanol vapor in PPE bags containing
Antimold®80 resulted in loss of efficacy in controlling fungal decay.
Antimold®80 in ZOEpac-210 bags did not control natural incidence
of fungal decay similar to Antimold®80 in PPE bags, but it did
decrease fungal decay in artificially inoculated grapes and uninoculated
grapes for 1 month. Ethanol vapor released by Antimold®80
and Antimold®60 in ZOEpac-210 bags adversely affected grape
stems and caused stem browning after 2 months, but these effects
were not observed with Antimold®80 in PPE bags. Antimold sachets
increased the ethanol content of berries by 2–3-fold but did not
cause a detectable alcoholic flavor in grapes.
