Alfaro, Chanda, Kalemli-Ozcan and Sayek (2006) found that, holding the
extent of foreign presence constant, financially well-developed economies experience
growth rates that are almost twice those of the economies with poor financial markets
thereby making sound financial market a necessary condition for FDI to contribute
to growth.
