The PRECEDE-PROCEED model was developed as a planning framework from which health education and
health promotion programs could be designed (Green, Kreuter, Deeds, and Partridge, 1980; Green & Kreuter,
1991). PRECEDE stands for “Predisposing, Reinforcing, and Enabling Factors in Educational Diagnosis and Evaluation.” Predisposing factors include knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, personal preferences, existing skills, and self-efficacy toward the desired behavior change.
