Police have apparently asked locals whether they heard the sound of a trolley being pushed on the footpath.
A man has been found dead in a London canal after reportedly being tied to a trolley and dumped in the water. The body was discovered in Regent's Canal, near the entrance to Islington Tunnel, just after 9am on Thursday morning. The Met's Marine Policing Unit sent divers to the scene and the canal was closed while they searched for clues. Police told neighbours the body had been found inside a trolley, according to the Evening Standard. "I was asked if I heard anything like a supermarket trolley as it was quite a distinctive noise to hear on the towpath but I didn’t heard anything," a man who lives on a houseboat told the paper. He added: "I’d gone to sleep at 11pm last night after being at the pub to watch the rugby and woke with the police banging on my window. That’s when I found out the body had been found in a trolley. I think he was tied to it." Police said a post-mortem examination would take place soon and are appealing for anyone who might have seen anything suspicious.
