Role of sRNA in QS and biofilm formation
QS is a form of cell communication in bacteria that provides
information about the population density, leading to genetic
changes allowing in some cases biofilm formation (Waters &
Bassler, 2005). It is becoming apparent that integration of
information by QS systems is regulated by sRNA molecules
(Table 1). sRNAs described in the following examples
illustrate how such molecules can be involved in different
aspects of cellular physiology, such as the stress response,
virulence and energy metabolism.
