The vermiculite (Mg, Fe2+, Al)3 (Al, Si)4O10(OH)24(H2O) unit structure consists of the sheets of trioctahedral mica or talc which separated by the layers of water molecules and these layers occupy a space about two water molecules thick. Vermiculite is present
nearly 90 samples out of 111. The observed frequencies of vermiculite are 670 cm1 and 811 cm1. 670 cm1 is due to SiAO Symmetrical bending mode vibration. The frequency at 811 cm1 is due to OAH out of plane bending mode [42]. The general use of Vermiculite are Open fireplaces, High-temperature or refractory insulation, Acoustic panels, Fireproofing of structural steel and pipes, an additive to fireproof wallboard, component of the interior fill for fire stop pillows, along with graphite, hot topping, Lightweight insulative concrete etc.. An unusual case of pleuroparenchymal
lung disease caused by the inhalation of vermiculite dust, presumably containing asbestos fibers is described.
