In conclusion, our
findings clearly demonstrate that insulin acts differently on
glucagon secretion, depending on the concomitant glucose
concentrations, ie, the glucose status determines thewayof
interaction between insulin and glucagon. Thus, insulin and
glucose are conjoint regulatory factors of glucagon con-
centrations in dairy cows, which will allow important new
insights into the regulatory endocrine and metabolic
mechanisms underlying dairy cow function.
