The successful cloning and expression of genes encoding cellulases
will lead to the development of a low-cost effective strategy
to produce cellulases in large amount. We are attempting to exploit
the overproduction of cellulase by harvesting it on larger scale and
using it as cellulase preparations for hydrolysis of lignocellulosic
biomass. Further studies are anticipated involving the optimization
of the experimental conditions necessary for achieving maximum
biomass conversions into fermentable sugars.
