INSTRUCTOR PAGES
Introduction: The school environment requires a different set of social skills than those needed at home. At home, the child must fit into a family unit with probably only a few adults to answer to. At school, there are many other students who have needs and personalities, some of which are not compatible with the child's. There are multiple teachers and other adults who have a say in what goes on. There are structured tasks that must be accomplished. There, are procedures, deadlines, expectations, and the needs of others who also fit into this environment. Getting along with others at school is a very important training ground for later environments, such as work or the community.
Note: Answers to the worksheets will vary according to the age and developmental stage of your students. The answers provided in the answer keys are models for typical responses you should expect from your students. As with any other activity, accept answers that can be logically supported by facts.
