English for Effective Communication: 975-252/ 105-202 Assignment # 4: Directions
Date: Presented during the second class of Week 16 (27 April – 01 May)
1. All students will be given the name of the place that they have to direct another person to go to, as well as the starting point. So remember you are speaking to someone else and telling them how to get to the place.
2. Use the simple future tense, since the person is still with you. Say things like “you will see… or you will pass.
3. Use as many landmarks and helpful phrases as you can to make the directions easy to understand.
4. Remember to speak slow and clear, and take pauses in between sentences.
5. No papers will be allowed during your directions. You have to practice it before you do your presentation.
6. The map will be projected on the board and you will stand in front explaining how to get to the place you have to direct the person to, but speaking to the whole class. They will follow on the map.
