From stories of famous teachers like Tilopa and Naropa, we can see how worshiping the guru (guru yoga) would be an important part of the rituals of Tantric Buddhism.
One needs to honor the teacher that has enabled one and all in one’s lineage to attain the wisdom of the Dharma.
In the case of Naropa, he is regarded as an ancestral teacher in the Tibetan Tantric lineage known as Kagyu. He is credited with discovering the Six Yogas (of Naropa).
