The hindcast wave model used in this work is the third generation
wave modelWAM cycle 4 (WAMDI,1988; Komen et al.,1994) modified
for two-way nesting by Gómez and Carretero (1997). With this system
the equation is integrated with the same time step for all points. As the
grid spacing depends of the position of the point in the grid, it works
like a variable resolution scheme. The grid resolution increases
through several rectangles with regular spacing in one or in several
areas. In these rectangles limits the mesh is not continuous and some
points obtain energy by interpolation and others by advection.
