There were three studies available for calculation of a CPF for ETO (Dunkelberg, 1982; Snellings et al., 1984;NTP, 1985a). The 2-year gavage study in rats by Dunkelberg (1982) is the only study to assess effects of oral exposure to ETO. The dosages, tumour type and tumour incidence from the study are presented in Table 1.The results of fitting the linear multistage model to
this data set to arrive at cancer potency estimates are 23 samples, and zero for those in which no ECH was detected. The residues found for ECH and EBH are
shown in Table 4. Using the above point estimates for spice consumption and the log-normal distribution of values for ETO, ECH and EBH residues the intake estimates shown in
Table 5 were derived.
