One type of additional service is segment
associated using SSR ASVC and the other is nonsegment
associated using SVC.
Additional services shall be booked in accordance
with the following provisions. All messages
indicated in this section will use established teletype
message formats.
The booking source shall send a request for the
Additional Service to the carrier. This request may
be via a Special Service Request (SSR) for a flight
related request, or via an auxiliary segment (SVC)
for a non-flight related request.
On receipt of this request, the carrier will respond to
the booking source in one of three ways:
- Confirm the Additional Service request and
confirm that no EMD is required. No further
action will be required by the booking source;
- Confirm the Additional Service request with a
request for the issuance of an EMD. The
booking source shall issue an EMD and send
confirmation of the EMD issuance to the carrier.
- Deny the Additional Service request. No further
action will be required by the booking source.
If the booking source is already aware that the
Additional Service is offered by the carrier and an
EMD is required, they may send an SSR request for
the service (e.g. UMNR) together with the
Additional Service SSR identifying the specific
service sub code in the same teletype message.
The carrier response may be either to
- confirm the Additional Service request with a
request for issuance of an EMD. The booking
source shall issue an EMD and send
corresponding confirmation to the carrier; or
- deny the Additional Service request. No further
action will be required by the booking source
