Thailand is an upper-middle income country in South-East Asia which has achieved impressive economic, social, and health improvements in the past ten years. Between 2007 and 2011 its gross domestic product grew by 7.8%, the per-centage of people living below poverty line decreased from
21% to 8.1% between 2000 and 2009, and under-five mor-tality reached a record low for a country with 13 deaths per 1000 live births in 2010 [1].
