Thai school Becomes part of international Education Plan
The New International School of Thailand (NIST) will be the only Asian school in a project to create common educational standards for international schools worldwide by the International Schools Association.
Beginning next month, NIST and 15 other international schools around the world will begin the “International Education System Pilot Project.”
Other leading schools were selected from North and South America, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East. NIST was the only school chosen in Asia.
“The Pilot Project is designed to test whether a comprehensive kindergarten Grade 12 International Education System can be done. The schools will share a common philosophy and mission, harmonized teaching rules and knowledge, standards and curriculum objectives. Benefits will come from the rich cultural and linguistic mix of the pilot schools,” a statement released recently said.
NIST is located in central Bangkok. It was selected for its international ideals and curriculum. It has a development rapidly since it started founding less than four years ago.
NIST Headmaster Keith Allen said the selection of NIST was both a challenge and an opportunity for the 900-student school.
