Dear all,
On behalf of management, I would like to inform that Coach Randy will completes his two year contract with Thanyapura on this coming 18 Sep, 2014. I’d like to take this opportunity to convey our gratitude for the great job he has done leading the Aquatics department and Silverfinz team since 2012. We wish Randy all the very best for his future endeavors. His last working day with us is 5 August, 2014.
It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment of Miguel Lopez as Head Coach of Thanyapura’s Aquatics department, replacing Coach Randy Simon. Miguel is Spanish and comes to us from the Canary Islands.
Miguel is a qualified national head swim coach for the Spanish Federation, which is the highest coaching level. He has over 20 years coaching experience, from coordinating Learn to Swim programs to training Junior European Champions, Olympians and Paralympians, such as, Pablo Cimadevila Alvarez who won two gold medals at the Sydney Paralympic Games, bronze in Athens and was a double medalist at Beijing; Sebastian Rodriguez who won fourteen medals between the Athens and Beijing Paralympics; and Pablo Saavedra Reinaldo bronze medalist in Atlanta 1996. All three Paralympic swimmers went to the Olympics and broke world records while training with Miguel.
More recently London Olympic semifinalist, Beatriz Gomez Cortez, was coached by Miguel just prior to her becoming a Junior European medalist. 3 time World Triathlon Champion and Olympic Silver medalist Javier Gomez, came under the tutelage of Miguel in his swimming development and is strongly considered the strongest swimmer in the history of the sport of Triathlon.
Miguel studied at the University of Cambridge, holds a Master’s degree as a secondary school physical education teacher and has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida.
We’re very excited to welcome Miguel to the Thanyapura family next week and this will take the Silverfinz Program to the next level. His expertise and coaching background, make him one of the best swimming properties now in Asia. Miguel is a huge addition to the world class coaching staff that now call Thanyapura home.
With my regards,
