CLEAN DISHES
The ministry, in cooperation with the Department of LocalAdministration, surveyed vendors in a bid to raise standards among food business operators under the Clean Food, Good Taste scheme.
Public Health Minister Witthaya Buranasiri said the survey found 119,955 out of 139,144 street food vendors, or just over 86 percent, sold food which passed hygiene and taste standards and were awarded Clean Food, Good Taste certificates.
The ministry wants to prepare food operators for the Asean Economic Community in three years’ time, the minister said.
COOPERATIVE PROJECT
A memorandum of understanding on the improvement offood quality will be signed between the ministry, the ThailandRestaurant Association, the Restaurateur and Goods Product Association and the Thailand Restaurant and Food Vendors Association.
The memorandum calls for cooperation from vendors and campaigns for clean cooking methods and the use of good quality, clean and healthy ingredients.
