The effect of offsets on the tensile strength of joints is evaluated with the result shown in Fig. 2. As the offset increases from 0 to 0.2 mm, the average tensile strength increases from 94.92 MPa to 203.06 MPa. Then it decreases to 49.10 MPa with the offsets varying from 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm. It can be noticed in Fig. 2 that the tensile strength of the joints with the 0.2 mm offset attains a maximum value of 203 MPa, about 80% that of the AZ31B base material.
