2. Chemical model
The absorption of CO2 into an aqueous amine solution can
be divided into two separate groups of reactivity’s. The reactions
of CO2 with water and the subsequent carbonate acid–base
equilibria, and the reactions of CO2 with amines and the amine
acid–base equilibria. In an aqueous amine absorbent there is interplay
between these chemistries and a fully descriptive chemical
model must include both.
