Atrazine (2-chloro-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-s-triazine)
is a widely used pesticide in agriculture. It is important to develop
methods for routine detection of atrazine in crop, drinking water
and soil because of the adverse effects of this pesticide on humans.
Immunosensors of atrazine with high sensitivity and specificity,
speed and label free mechanisms offer an excellent opportunity to
realize practically viable detection systems. Over the years,
electrochemical immunosensors [30,31], electrochemical sensor
based on molecular imprinted polymers [32] or gold nanoparticles
[33], surface plasmon resonance immunosensor [34] and fluorescent
immunosensor [35] have been reported for the detection of
atrazine. Herein proposed method offers a simpler route of
fabricating PAni based immunosensor for atrazine. The proposed
immunosensor has provided highly sensitive and specific detection
of atrazine. The observed limit of detection of 0.01 ng/mL and
wide linear concentration range of detection (0.01 – 50 ng/mL) are
main advantages of the proposed method over the already
reported sensors for atrazine.
