My name is Ranee Pongtong. I was born in Nakhon Phanom. The province is located at the valley of the Mekong River and is mostly plain. The provincial seal shows the pagoda of Phra That Phanom in That Phanom district. This pagoda was originally constructed around 535 BC in Khmer style. The original pagoda collapsed in 1975 and was rebuilt in Lao style. The Phra That Phanom temple fair is held every February. Important festivals in the province include the traditional dances of the Phu Thai ethnic group held during May and June every year. At the end of the Buddhist lent in November illuminated a boat procession is done. The climate of Nakhon Phanom can be catalogued in three seasons; rainy (May to September), winter (October to January) and summer (February to April).
