The BC maintains the basic morphology of bamboo, meanwhile some collapses and deformations are produced. As can be found from Fig. 2, some micropores are distributed on the surface of the cellwall which contribute much to the specific surface area of BC. Typical N2 isotherms of the prepared charcoals are repre- sented in Fig. 3. These isotherms are of Type I, indicating that these BC samples are mainly microporous. According to N2 adsorption isotherms, surface characteristics of the charcoal samples, includ- ing specific surface area, total pore volume, and pore size distribu- tion, can be determined and are collected in Table 3.
