To validate the usefulness of our benchmark and the
validity of our approach we benchmarked seven different
software packages based on a representative selection of
several DBMS and operating systems. Although being able
to actually determine the most complete software package,
due to similar scores it is difficult to say which one stands
out. An important aspect is that we were able to realize that
several mechanisms have no support at all on all the
packages analyzed. The reasons for that are open for debate,
but we can conjecture that it has to do with a tradition of
simply copying what has already being proposed and has
proven to work, without rethinking the whole features from
scratch. When these systems are comprehensively analyzed
using a tool like the benchmark proposed in this work then
several missing elements become highlighted.
