Tom Chan lives in Singapore. Like many other people in Singapore,Tom rides his bike to work every day. This is not unusual in many large cities in Asia. However, Tom's bike is different. When Tom arrives at work, he folds up his bike, puts it into a small bag, and stores it under his desk. Tom's bike is the new "A-Bike." When it is folded into its bag, the A-Bike is about the same size as a large umbrella ! Sir Clive Sinclair developed this foldble bicycle because he wanted to find an easy and cheap way for commuters to travel to work.He calls it the A-Bike because of its shape. Sir Clive says,"It's the world's smallest, light, foldble bicycle." Although it weighs only 12 pounds (5.5 kg), it can carry a rider as heavy as 247 pounds(112 kg) and can go as fast as 15 miles per hour (24 kph).Sir Clive is actually a famous English inventor. Many years ago he invented the fist pocket calculator. He also designed the fist pocket television and the Bottom Radio, which is the size of a dime and fist into the ear. Sir Clive chose Singapore as the first city to use his new invention because of its size and large population. This new bike many be very useful, but it isn't cheap-it costs about $300.Tom Chan says,"my A-Bike is very convenient for me .I always wanted to ride a bicycle to work, but I did not know where to keep it while i was working. Now, it takes me only about 20 seconds to fold or unfold my bike,so i can bring it everywhere I go." In fact, it is so light and small, you can even fold it up and take it on the bus with you.
