Paul, can't recall if we discussed this before. When I bought my Escort two years ago it wasn't insured, so, on the day I got some insurance via Tim at Expat Cars in Bangkok who also oversaw the transfer paperwork for me.

Last year, when it came up for renewal, he told me that the insurance company were not too keen on insuring old cars but they would do it this time. I have no idea what their stance on it will be this time around. It's due at the start of Aug.

However, one of their provisos was the value of the car, which for them peaked at just over 200k. Today the car is probably 600k, (and if somebody offered me that, I wouldn't sell it), so I'm hoping there is some kind of 'Classic Car' insurance available for something closer to the value.

If an insurance company needs convincing, it is virtually thief proof. Whoever wants it needs to get past The Heights security. They will be seen, and recorded, on their CCTV and then again on mine. The car is alarmed. The battery power to the starter is isolated so it'll have to be pushed away. The brake pedal and the clutch pedal are padlocked together. The steering wheel is removable so it won't be going around any corners. There is a GPS satellite tracker in the post right now which will be fitted as soon as it arrives. If it's in my driveway the thief will need too get in a window as the driver's door is up against a wall and the passenger's door is up against the Camry.

Do you have anybody who would insure it in case it gets airlifted away by a Chinook helicopter for instance (see attachment)?
