I am interested in this scholarship because I have a long-term interest in Thai cultural performance, with special emphasis on food and dance. Thai agriculture has changed dramatically over the past few years, especially in terms of agricultural management, which has reduced the time and labor of Thai people in the agricultural sector. Thai food has followed these changes, incorporating new items, expanding its menu, and becoming a world-renowned cuisine. Thai dance has also changed as Thailand has become increasingly involved in the world; Thai dance is now a major Southeast Asian performance art. I want to study in Japan because it will broaden my exposure to a very important Asian culture – Japan – and increase my understanding of how your culture’s food and dance have survived and expanded in this new world scene.
