Meat
Imports account for the largest share of the meat handled in the Port of Hamburg. Beef, poultry and lamb are imported from Argentina, Brazil, and New Zealand.
The consignees are generally wholesalers in the greater Hamburg region as well as in Central and Southern Germany.
Transport in reefer containers guarantees an unbroken cooling chain. The meat is kept refrigerated or frozen, depending on the kind of goods and the customers’ demands.
