In January 2013 Kering announced that they had purchased a 51 per cent share of the company. The purchase prompted a sea change in fashion, with other luxury goods conglomerates also starting to invest in designers’ own houses once more. The increased brand awareness in 2013 has resulted in strong growth across all product categories in the wholesale channel.
On the distribution side, Christopher Kane’s collections are now distributed in over 30 countries across more than 150 wholesale accounts. The primary product category is woman’s ready-to-wear. Since its inception the company has expanded from producing bi-annual Spring-Summer, Autumn-Winter womenswear collections into Resort in 2010, and in 2013 introduced its first Pre-Fall offering. Menswear was a new category that was added in Spring 2011. The company also produces footwear to accompany these collections, which will be expanded over the next few years.
In 2014 the brand will open its first flagship store in London, which will be situated on Mount Street, Mayfair. Further growth is also planned in the wholesale channel, which will be assisted by the launch of the brands first leather goods collection.
