Nursing staffs in the private hospitals have already been working in international surrounding. In public sectors, about two-thirds of the nurses with temporary contract show their interests in migrating abroad while less than 10 percent of the nurses with civil servant status are willing to migrate. Although the surveyed nurses have destinations such as the United States, Europe, and Australia in their mind, within ASEAN countries they are interested to work in Singapore (about 70 percent of the nurses who pos-itively responded), followed by Brunei Darussalam (about 10 per cent) and Lao PDR (about 7 per cent). GDP per capita of Singapore and Brunei Darussalam are much higher than that of Thailand. Proximity in terms of distance and language might be a reason for Lao PDR as a potential destination.
