‘Stay Alive, My Son’, a classic autobiographical novel by Pin Yathay, explores thoughts and ideas that are vital to human existence and behaviour. Throughout the novel, many links occur between the world today and the world twenty years ago, such as deprivation, death and grief and fear. This story touches people deeply as they can relate to and empathise with the tragedy and struggles of Pin Yathay’s life in Cambodia during the time of the murderous Khmer Rouge.
