the yellow-head virus (YHV) and the Chinese baculovirus
(CBV) (also known as white spot baculovirus
(WSBV)). Using SDS–polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis
(SDS–PAGE) on purified virions, we
have shown that YHV is composed of at least four
proteins (22, 67, 135 and 170 kDa), while the CBV
nucleocapsid contains at least three proteins (19,
23.5 and 27.5 kDa (doublet)). The present paper
describes our use of this data in the development
of a Western blot (WB) protocol for the specific
and early detection of YHV and CBV in experimentally
infected animals as well as virus-infected
primary shrimp cell cultures.
