Fine- to medium-grained sandstone was selected for analysis
of mineral assemblages. Forty five thin sections, oriented
parallel to bedding planes, were prepared. The locations of
these samples are shown in Fig 4. Mineral assemblages were
analyzed with a petrographic microscope. Thin sections of
sandstones were point-counted using the Gazzi–Dickinson
method (Ingersoll et al., 1984). More than 300 points per slide
were counted at a counting interval of 0.5 mm.
