The main differences between traditional pig breeds and modern
pig breeds at the same age are carcass weight, loin cross-sectional
area, backfat thickness and the amount of intra muscular fat (Kim et
al., 2010). The differences are smaller when comparing carcass and
meat quality traits of pigs which are usually used in the commercial
production because the goal in pig breeding has been already for
long time similar; pigs per litter, fast growth and leanness of the carcass.
