In the United States, the introduction of smart phones and the high-capacity networks that make them able to support mobile commerce did not begin until 2008. These smart phones, such as the Apple iPhone, the Palm Pre, several BlackBerry models, and phones that use the Android operating system, opened the door for serious U.S. mobile commeree for the first time. Figure 7-4 shows several examples of designs used in smart phones today.
