Research should also build on the fact that a person can apply several types of judgment in a single setting or period. Subjective well-being derivers from many stimuli and mental activities within a particular episode (e.g., when dealing with a specific task demand). That episode is rarely restricted to a brief instant of time (as usually is research measurement), but extends across a period of minutes, hours or days. In the course of such an episode, many judgments may be made, against different reference standards or repeatedly against the same standard. However, research procedures to explore multiple cognitive processes within the same episode are poorly developed, and now deserve attention.
