Air quality monitoring
HKIA continuously tracks outdoor air quality through two airport monitoring stations and a third station on Sha Chau, an island several kilometres to the north of HKIA. The wealth of data we collect helps us monitor regional air quality and keep track of the progress of our pollution reduction initiatives. In addition, the Institute for the Environment of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has conducted an Airport Operational Air Quality Study. Click here for details.
Indoor air quality
We endeavour to maintain a healthy environment for our passengers and staff by monitoring indoor air quality. The SkyPier, North Satellite Concourse, Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2) have all received a Good Class certificate for good indoor air quality from the Environmental Protection Department.
