General principles of spinal immobilization
Primary goal is to prevent further injury
Spine should be treated as long bone with joint at either end (head and pelvis)
Paramedic should always use complete spinal
immobilization
Splinting and isolation of specific injury site is impossible
Having spine fractures in more than one location is common
