In this study, we aimed at determining the prevalence of self-care behaviors among hypertensive
patients. In our sample, we found that the prevalence rates of recommended hypertension selfcare
activities were greater than 70% for behaviors related to smoking and alcohol consumption,
rates were much lower for self-care activities relating to medication adherence, regular BP
monitoring, and physical exercise.
