Share prices closed 1.3 lower as investors took the lead of a weaker finish ovemight on wall street to lock in profits in property and banking blue chips, dealers said.
Investors were also sidelined ahead of Financial Secretary Henry Tang’s budget speech today and a series of major corporate result due later this week, they said.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 176.29 point at 13397.25 in relatively quieter trade of HK$14.97 million (u$$ 1.9 billion)
The HSl’s only two gainers, PCCW added 0.10 to 5.65 dollars, wile Cathay Pacific added 0.20 to 16.40 ahead of its results today.
