ROBERTO MARTINEZ wants Ross Barkley to sign a long-term deal this summer and build his Everton vision around him.
Barkley 22, will have two years left at the end of the season and has been onManchester City’s radar for months.
But boss Martinez said: “Ross is a player you can build a project on. I’ve seen a big, big difference this season in him. When you want to build a project around a player at Everton you need a player who wants to take that role.”
Barkley marked his 100th game for the Toffees with a penalty double in Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Newcastle.
