The Government of Kenya, working with the Sub Saharan Africa Transport Policy Program (SSATP) of the World Bank, is embarking on a review of both it's poverty reduction and transport sector strategies. The purpose of this review is to identify ways in which the transport sector strategies can reinforce national objectives and targets as set in the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) and other strategic development frameworks. Simultaneously, the PRSP will be assessed with a view of finding out whether it's framework and objectives allow for a proper expression of the need for mobility, access and affordable transport policies for poor people.
A participatory methodology has been designed through a process that involves the contributions of public, private and civil society stakeholders. Guiding the process is a Steering Group representing the Government, the private sector and civil society who have an understanding of, and engagement with, the urban and rural poor. - See more at: http://www.ifrtd.org/index.php/resources/new-resources/item/7-transport-policy-review-in-kenya#sthash.ztXyLfX7.dpuf
