Abstract
Understanding the process in which individuals engage in ethical decision making and factors influencing this process maybe important for developing education and development programs. Existing theoretical models of individual ethical decision making in Organisations place little or no emphasis on characteristics of the ethical issue itself. This review proposed an issue-contingent model containing a new set of variables called moral intensity; using concepts, theory and evidence derived from social psychology, argued that moral intensity influences every component of moral decision making and behaviour and offered four research propositions and discussed implications of the theory.
