1. Organ Meat Many people are big fans of meat, especially liver or heart pieces. People who do not have gout or there is no family history of gout can enjoy these organ meat pieces without any harm. However, people who suffer from gout can be at risk of severe gout pain by eating organ meat.
2. Peanuts The amount of purine found in peanuts is considerably moderate, but it can still trigger a gout attack in many people. If you enjoy eating peanuts, then it is safe to say that eating a small amount will not cause any harm. However, one must refrain from eating large quantity of peanuts at a time.
3. Vegetables With Purine In It There are some vegetables that contain moderate to high quantities of purine which can cause a gout attack or worsen the existing condition. Vegetables with high purine content are mushrooms, spinach, asparagus, cauliflower and peas.
4. Alcohol A person suffering from gout must take extra care to limit the consumption of alcohol to avoid the possibility of a gout attack. Alcohol, especially wine and beer, is a rich source of purine and can increase the risk of gout pain. A gout attack is more common if your alcohol consumption is more than one glass per day.
5. Caffeinated Drinks People suffering from gout must limit their consumption of caffeinated drinks. Caffeine increases the level of uric acid which can trigger a gout attack. More than two cups of caffeinated drinks is considered to be harmful for gout patients.
