The inscriptions had been recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as the “Memory of the World”.
The invented alphabet also serves in the development of the first Thai typewriter by Edwin Hunter McFarland in 1892, and remains in use, with some modification, up to the era of information technology today.
King Ramkhamhaeng the Great’s achievements are wide-ranging, but supreme among these is education, with his invented Thai alphabet the starting point in all undertakings. For this, all Thais should be forever grateful to the great and innovative king of the first Thai Kingdom, Sukhothai, the Dawn of Happiness.
