For all three sampling gears, the content of one of the cod-ends was
screened through meshes of different sizes, then filtered onto 47 mmØ
GF-A precombusted filters and dried at 60 °C for 48 h (weight had not
stabilized after 24 h) for subsequent dry weight (DW) determination
with a microbalance. The selected size fractions were 53–200 μm,
200–500 μm, 500–1000 μm, 1000–2000 μm, and N2000 μm. The fraction
500–1000 μm was taken from the WP2 nets, as size spectrum analyses
confirmed that the fraction 500–1000 μmwas not caught quantitatively
by the Bongo nets.
