Furthermore, future research should focus on (1) seeking external stakeholder feedback on cpKPIs, (2) establishing consensus on “high value action item DTPs resolved,”
and (3) developing consensus cpKPIs for the primary care,
ambulatory care, and community pharmacy settings. The
real-world adoption and feasibility of measuring these
cpKPIs and what their impact is on advancing clinical
pharmacy practice and improving patient outcomes have
yet to be determined. Finally, it is unknown whether clinical pharmacy subspecialty areas, such as critical care or
cardiology, require different or supplemental cpKPIs to
help advance clinical pharmacy practice and the quality of
patient care in those areas.
